University Partners with Charlotte Fire Department for On-Campus Exercise

The University, alongside Charlotte Fire Department, collaborated in an exercise to benefit both UNC Charlotte and the surrounding fire stations.

“We don’t get to practice this type of thing very often because there’s not just not very many fires in high rises and parking decks,” said Battalion Chief Matt Westbrook. “It’s good practice for us doing something that we don’t normally do and it’s also good to get out here and see these guys from the University that we don’t always deal with and start building up some rapport. That way, at least we know faces and names in the event of an actual emergency.”
