September Congratulations

  • Melanie Witherspoon, director of facilities finance and business operations in Facilities Management, recently received her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, a process improvement certification.
  • Helena Connors, assistant director of PaTS, recently became a Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP). The CAPP designation is awarded by the International Parking and Mobility Institute and is considered the leading credential in parking worldwide.
  • Joe Fiorelli, interim director of risk management and insurance, recently earned certification as an Associate in Risk Management-Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-E). The internationally recognized program focuses on the application of enterprise risk management across the various functions of an organization, emphasizing strategic and risk-based decision-making at all levels.
  • Judy Davie, building environmental technician, will retire on Sept. 30 after six years of service.
  • Beverly Starcher, building environmental technician, will retire on Sept. 30 after 21 years of service.
  • The Facilities Management Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling submitted a proposal entitled “Garbage to Gold” and was awarded a $7,000 grant from PepsiCo Recycling as part of the company’s Zero Impact Fund program. The funds awarded will be used to support the unit’s recycling initiatives centered around residential halls move out in the spring semester.
  • Kudos to playing fields football crew members Ken Baucom, crew leader, Chris Hamm, and Seth Still for ensuring the Los Angeles Rams had a positive experience when they recently visited campus. The team used UNC Charlotte’s practice fields when they were in town earlier this month for a match up against the Carolina Panthers.
  • Staff from the Facilities Finance and Business Operations and the FM Human Resources teams completed the Information Mapping Professionals Certification. They were Sherry Ceallaigh, Charleata Neal, Noella Paquette, and Melanie Witherspoon.
  • Krista Collins and Charleata Neal on the FMHR team received the Everything DiSC Workplace© certification. Collins was also certified as a Development Dimensions International (DDI©) Targeted Selection facilitator.
  • Jessica Deal and Beverly Imes received the Universal Design Certificate.
  • Rachel Skipworth, bookstore and licensing program manager, has been named a 2019-2020 International Collegiate Licensing Association Mentee. The mission of ICLA is to “improve the overall understanding and effectiveness of institutional trademarks/tradenames and licensing, while upholding the ideals of higher education.”
