Nathaniel (lee) snodgrass
Lee Snodgrass, director of facilities operations, was appointed interim associate vice chancellor for safety and security effective Sept. 1, 2018.
Arriving at the University in 2011, Snodgrass manages the operation and maintenance of more than 100 facilities encompassing 9 million square feet on campus. Prior to UNC Charlotte, he served in similar capacities for the Downingtown Area School District and the Eastern York School District, both in Pennsylvania. Snodgrass was in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1989 to 2000 and in reserve duty until 2010. Among many assignments during this time, he was a facility engineer at Balad Air Base in Iraq and Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in management from Troy State University.
Q: What do you like most about your job at UNC Charlotte?
A: I really enjoying engaging with people and solving challenges -- starting with the customer and listening to their needs and/or concerns to working with staff to resolve the challenge. Working together, there is nothing that we cannot accomplish!
Q: What is your favorite place on campus?
A: I really enjoy Van Landingham Glen. It's nice to just go for a walk and enjoy nature right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the University.
Q: What inspires you in your career?
A. Helping to create and maintain an environment that fosters the teaching and learning of our future leaders.
