About the Associate Vice Chancellor

Anne Brown has served as associate vice chancellor for finance since 2017. She leads her department in the strategic use of resources to support the University's academic, research and public service missions. She oversees the Financial System Support, Controller's Office, Budget Office, Treasury Services, and Materials Management service units. 

Before joining UNC Charlotte, Brown was the associate vice president for business and administration services at Kent State University, where she was responsible for the Bursar's Office payroll, procurement and mail services.  Prior to her position at Kent State, Brown was vice president for administration and treasurer at the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. She also served as the state controller and senior accountant for Dayton Oncology and Hematology PA and as controller for RCOD Home Medical Oxygen Inc.

Brown, a certified public accountant, holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana State University, a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Dayton and an MBA from Kent State.

Q&A

Q: What do you like most about your job at UNC Charlotte?  
A: I like so many aspects of my job here, particularly that I get to work with such a great variety of people across campus; the collaboration and common purpose are energizing. 

Q: What is your favorite place on campus? 
A: My favorite place on campus is the fountain/waterfall behind the CHHS building near the "49er Miner" statue.  When I visited campus the day before I interviewed here, I sat there taking in the view. It added to the good feeling I had about possibly coming to work at UNC Charlotte.

Q: What inspires you in your career? 
A: I am inspired when I believe my work is making a positive difference in the life of a student, a fellow employee, or someone I encounter outside of the UNC Charlotte family.
